15 hour stopover in shanghai, then 4 hour stopover in beijing

Question

I am an Australian citizen flying from Melbourne to Shanghai Pu Dong. I have a stopover of 15 hours, and I want to leave the airport, and stay at a hotel in the city. Then I fly from Shanghai Hongqiao to Beijing (4 hour stopover), then from Beijing to Moscow. Can I receive a free transit visa for the 15 hours in Shanghai?

Hi, you can apply for 24 hr direct transit for this trip, and no visa is needed. But in Shanghai, you need a hotel reservation first, then you could leave the airport to stay in a hotel.
