Visa needed for Philippines passport holder?

Hello,
We will have a layover of 25 hours and 45 minutes in Shanghai. I am a US Passport holder, however, my husband has a Philippines passport and I understand that the 72 or the 144 hour free visa would only apply to me. And neither of us would qualify for the 24 direct transit . How would we be able to obtain entry permit for my husband as neither the 72 or the 144 hour can apply to him? Please help! Thanks!

Cris, if you will apply for the visa from USA, first, prepare the relevant documents including your husband's passport and the application form, passport style photo as well as other requirements, then go to the China embassy or the consulate to apply for a tourist L or transit G type for the trip.
