About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Is it possible to arrive in Shanghai with no visa?

Can I arrive in Shanghai with no transit visa and go to the train station to buy a train ticket to Hong Kong one way.

Hello I want to arrive in Shanghai with no visa and buy a ticket : a train ticket Shanghai - Hong Kong knowing that the 144 hours free visa " 6 days" permit me to stay in Shanghai 6 days

Can I at the same time get a train to honk Kong within 5 days

No, it's not possible. You need to enter and exit from the same port. If you fly to Shanghai Pudong, you will need the 144-hour visa-free transit to clear immigration. To get the 144-hour visa-free transit you will need a confirmed flight ticket from Shanghai Pudong to a third country. You must depart from Shanghai Pudong after entering here. Without a confirmed onward flight, the airline check-in at your original country won't allow you to board your flight to Shanghai Pudong in the first place.

It’s possible, but you must have your confirmed train ticket before you board your flight to Shanghai. Otherwise you’ll be denied boarding on your flight. You can’t buy the train ticket after your arrival in China.

Oh I see that means that I need prior: I mean before arriving to Shanghai by boat, I will need to have already in hand a plane or train ticket to Hong Kong's g. Is it what you was trying to tell me????
So do. Have to buy the plane ticket Shanghai Hong Kong before. Board the boat seoul- Shanghai????

Or as apparently it is not possible t get a train ticket in advance, you are advising me to get a plane ticket in advance if not I will be refused boarding the bat to Shanghai.

I see: so only one solution I have to buy a plane ticket.

And another question on arrival at the I ternational port of shangahi where is the 144 hours free visa application( as it is not the airport but port of Shanghai) do you know on arrival where do I apply for the six days free visa


Last question: if I want to go by train will I have enough time within 5 six days in Shanghai r within four to by the train ticket

Do the train Shanghai Hong of run everyday

If I arrive from south Korea to a port in Shanghai, not airport, a port, as I may arrive by boat from south Korea, is it the same rule as arriving by airport??????

I forgot to say I will arrive at a port in Shanghai.
As there is no boat Dunn Ng from the port in Shanghai to honk Kong


Can I board the boat in south Korea wth a flight ticket already bought to fly Shanghai-Hong-kpng Hong Kong for example???

And even buy a train ticket on arrival in Shanghai, and get the money refunded in case I prefer buying a train ticket????

But if you read all the replies, one man says that if for example I am arriving in Shanghai by plane to Shanghai Pudong international airport, I need afte 144 hours, to leave shangai from the same airport I have arrived.

So you said, I can board a boat from south Korea, as long as I have a prepaid train ticket in hand.

But it sounds like if I arrive by plane I need to leave by plane, and if I arrive to Shanghai by boat ? Am I oblged to leave Shanghai by boat after 144 hours, or I can choose an alternative way,train or plane??


If yes, I mean if I arrive by boat, and I can leave by another way from Pudong airport or from a train station in Shanghai, will I have for the train enough time to buy a train ticket on arrival in four days????

Other question if I arrive by boat or plane can I change my mind as there is no boat Shanghai to Hong of, and finally get a train???!!

No you do not understand I will arrive ce by boat from south Korea!!!

And I will leave Shanghai not by boat as I arrived. But by plane or train f I have enough time to get a train ticket in Shanghai

You seems today that if someone arrive by plane to Shanghai they cannot leave Shanghai by train

Let me answer your question again. First of all, the answer from "Barry" is incorrect. You are allowed to arrive and depart from any of the ports of entry: all airports in Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou; two cruise ports in Shanghai; and Shanghai Railway Station. Departing from a different port of entry is not a problem as long as you have a confirmed ticket.

As for the confirmed ticket part, booking a rail ticket directly from the monopoly rail road company is next to impossible if you don't read Chinese, so you have to find a travel agency in your own country. That part is something you have to find out by yourself since not all of us live in Belgium. If you can't find one, then your only choice is to leave by air.

You can book train tickets on online.
It´s super easy and you have a paid and confirmed ticket on your phone.
