144 Hour Transit Visa to China from Australia

Hi, I am wanting to travel from Australia to China, stay 4 days. Travel onwards to Hong Kong and stay 3 days before returning to Australia. Does this qualify for the 144 hour transit visa in china? I just wanted to check as the Hong Kong stopover is for less time than I am spending in China. Thanks

Hi, if you will transit in a Chinese city which qualify for the 144 hr free transit, you can apply for the free transit then. Don't worry.

If you have non-stop flights Australia-Shanghai-Hong Kong you don't need a visa for 144 hours in Shanghai, and it doesn't matter how long you stay in Hong Kong (assuming qualifying passport). But if your Australia-Shanghai flight stops in Hong Kong or China then you will need a visa in advance.
