About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can I start in Beijing and Leave out of Shanghai?

I'm planning on flying JFK-PRK, staying in Beijing for 3 days, taking the high-speed rail to Shanghai and then flying from Shanghai to Hong Kong. Is this allowed? I'm unsure if I can leave out of a non-Beijing airport if I arrive in Beijing for the start of the 144-hour free period. Thanks!

It's only allowed if you have a Chinese visa. 144 hours visa-free transit doesn't apply because you transit in both Beijing and Shanghai.
