My parents (Foreign Chinese) have obtain residence permits for 5 years. They are currently living in China. My question is can they renew their residence permit after living in China for 5 years? What about obtaining Chinese Citizenship? They have no desire to return to our home country as me and my brother are now living abroad as Permanent Residence in Canada.

I am planning for the same application but do not know how long do I have to wait for the approval and what sort of documents they need. Would appreciate much if you could let me know. Personally I think you can stay in China and wait for the approval. The processing time would be 15 to 20 working days. To apply for reference, you should provide passport and its copy, the application form, passport-style photo, health certificate, relationship certificate, as well as an invitation letter and your inviter's passport and Chinese residence permit. It's just for reference. You can go to the local PSB  to inquire more details.
