About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Free visa needed?

I will arrive in Shanghai Pudong April 30 5pm from Hong Kong, and I will depart to Paris same day 23.20.
I will have to collect luggage and check in again, because it’s two different tickets.
Will the 72 hours free transit be ok?

As your layover time in Shanghai is within 24 hours, so you can enjoy 24 hour free transit in Shanghai, and no visa is needed. Your separate tickets will be fine.

Unless you take the Maglev to downtown and then not spend that much time downtown, for a 6 hour layover it may not be worth it.
