About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

3 hour stopover in Shanghai

Hi
I have a 3 hour stopover in Shanghai nroute from Melbourne to Osaka on China Eastern.
do I need a visa?
I hold a Malaysian passport,residing in Australia

You need to check with your airline. Malaysian passport holders were ineligible for TWOV when traveling on certain airlines in 2017 and it is unclear whether the ban still applies. If still in doubt, call Shanghai Immigration as well.
