on-line purchase of tickets to Forbidden City

When making an on-line purchase of tickets, is it acceptable for tourist fill in phone number of hotel at which they are staying since a Chinese phone number is required?

As I know, it is has to be a mobile phone number. As long as the mobile phone can receive messages and you can check it, it is fine to fill in it.
