144 hrs visa free in shanghai

Hi can you tell me if i can do the 144hrs visa free if iam flying from Hong Kong to Beijing and staying in beijing and planning to go to Shanghai for a day? Iam flying back to the U.S from Beijing

Well, you can’t use the 144h visa free transit since you will have two stops in the mainland. So, apply for a visa in advance!
