About:China Transit Visa

Philippine passport 12 layover in Shanghai

I hold a philippine passport, ill be travelling cebu-shanghai-Los angeles. I have a 12 hour layover in shanghai and I want to avail the free hotel offered by the airline. Do i need a visa? the fee is the same for a tourist L and i dont want to spend extra

Hi, you don't need a visa for that. Someone said that you can contact the airline to see if they can give you hotel details up front. That may speed up entry as Shanghai has been sticky with must have hotel reservation to leave airport on a stay 24 hours or less.
