About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Hello I would like to travel from US to Hong Kong and stay there for four days and then I would like to go from there and travel to Shanghai for another 3 days and fly back to the US. am i eligible for the 144 hour or 72 hour transit visa? And can I use both or am I only able to use either or?
