About:China Visa

DUI misdemeanor on record can I get a Chinese Visa

Would it help if I applied in person at the US consulate rather than simply mailed it in with the box next to "have you ever been convicted of a crime" checked?

Steve, as I know, the mailed application is not acceptable by the embassy. You should go to China embassy/consulate in person to submit the application or find someone else to do that on your behalf. Don't worry about the misdemeanor record too much. Just be honest to the consular officers.
