About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US- China layover - Japan - China for one day.

I am planning on traveling US- Beijing (one layover of one hour) - Tokyo - Kyoto and then another 24 hours layover in Beijing (going out of the airport) on the way back to US! Would I need a chinese visa if it's less tahn 72 hours in total spent in China?

You do not if Beijing is your only stop in Mainland China and your US-Beijing and Beijing-US flights do not stop in Japan.

One hour connect in Beijing sounds a little tight. I don't think you could make a connection in that short of time
