can you take a large bag (luggage) on the high speed trains?

Question

I will be flying in to Xian, spending two days and then taking the ride to Chengdu. I will have a backpack, and one large suitcase. Is there somewhere to store a large bag in the carriage? Do you check the bag?

Yes, you can take the luggage with you. There are space for large sized luggage at the end of each carriage. Usually the luggage will not be weighted, I did not see any traveler was stopped for that.
