A PhD student and a research assistant in an Egyptian University. I got an invitation to be a speaker in a conference in Shanghai next month. They invitation include the accommodation as well. What papers else than the invitation will i need to apply for the visa and how long will it take please. And will i apply directly in the Chinese embassy or to another third party? Thanks a lot.

Hi, you can apply for a tourist L type for the conference, and you need to prepare your passport and copy of its data page, the application form, a passport-style photo, and the invitation letter. You can submit the application to the China embassy directly, and the processing time is around four working days.
