Do I still need to apply for visa to Shanghai ?

I'm holding Canadian Passport and Hong Kong ID card and identity pass card for Hong Kong residence to go to China. I want to go to Shanghai without passing through HK, do I need to apply another visa ?
( Sorry I have been holding for embassy operator for 2 hours, still not my turn yet )

In that case, you don’t need a visa but need to apply for a Home Return Permit (Mainland Travel Permit ) which can be applied with your HK ID Card.

Yes, that's it. Then you can go to Shanghai visa-free. Don't worry!
