About:China Visa on Arrival

Can't transit in Shantou for 1h even if my flight goes to Shanghai as final destination

Hi guys,

I am a french citizen, and I am in Bangkok at the moment. Spring Airlines just refused to me the right to board on the flight to Shanghai because it stops in Shantou for 1h on the way. I have a valid port visa in Shanghai but it seems like if my flight isn't direct to Shanghai, then I can't board on th efligh. I couldn't find anything about the transit in another city as the arrival port, does anyone know anything about it? Was the airline right to refuse to me the access to the plane? Thanks for your help guys!

Yannick

What do you mean by a "valid port visa in Shanghai"?

I mean that my employer arranged for me to have my visa ready to obtain on arrival in Pudong, unfortunately there was this stopover in Shantou before Shanghai and even though I would not have left the airport, that created a problem...

Port visas are usually issued by the authority which issued the approval letter, so clearing immigration in Shanghai is required. However, your flight clears immigration in Shantou and not Shanghai.
