About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I need a visa for layovers in China?

So I am traveling to Thailand but will have 2 layover in China when going to Thailand which the two layover total 10hrs and the othe two layover back home is total to 21hrs in China. The whole trip layover total is 31hrs.

The city I will be in for all my layover is in Kunming. BTW I'm from the U.S.

If you will travel like USA-Kunming-Thailand, and Thailand-Kunming-USA, you can use 24 hr direct transit in both ways. No Chinese visa is needed.
