Passport validity for 144 hr visa free

I will be availing of the 144 hour free transit option during my 2 day stop over in Shanghai on my flights between Australia and France. My French passport will be less than 6 months validity during my stopover (about 5 months validity at time of travel). Is this a problem as I am not actually applying for a visa but availing of the "visa FREE" stopover option?
Please help if you can - Thank you.
