About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Abu Dhabi - Hong Kong - Beijing - Abu Dhabi

Hi. I was wondering if I will qualify for this 144 hour visa? I'll be landing in Beijing directly from Hong Kong. Departing Beijing we will be flying to Abu Dhabi, however it is a non stop connecting flight through Hong Kong. Appreciate any help.

So you´re flying HK - Beijing - HK - Abu Dhabi?

Then you have to apply for a tourist visa L as HK - PEK - HK is not a transit.

There is no such thing as a "non stop connecting flight". If your route is Hong Kong-Beijing-Hong Kong, it's not a transit, and therefore you must have a visa in advance.

I appreciate that. I meant that my flight connects through Hong Kong and I would transiting without clearing passport control.

It's irrelevant whether you clear immigration or not. Your case is clear-cut: you're not in transit at Beijing and therefore you need a visa.

Thanks for the helpful if not very blunt reply Kevin. Excuse my ignorance, but having asked the question, it really wasn't that 'clear-cut' to me. I'm well aware I'm not transiting through Beijing - I was referring to Hong Kong.

You don't need a visa for Hong Kong. But you don't qualify for 144 hours visa-free transit in Beijing and therefore you need a visa for China.
