About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Arriving Shanghai from Bangkok, departing Shanghai for Sydney via Bangkok

I am an Australian passport holder and will be flying from Sydney to Bangkok then Bangkok to Shanghai then SH to Sydney with transit in Bangkok. I will be in Bangkok for 3 days (18th to 21st March) before flying to SH on 21st March. I will depart SH on 23rd March for Sydney via Bangkok, just transit in Bangkok, onward flight to Sydney same day.
Can I use the 72 hour free transit?
Thanks for your help, Tim from Australia

Do you mean you will travel like Sydney-Bangkok-Shanghai-Bangkok-Sydney, right? If yes, you cannot use the free transit because Bangkok-Shanghai-Bangkok is not a transit.
