About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

My flight path is : NYC - Shanghai (16 hr layover) - Kunming (14 hr layover) - Kathmandu

My total layover time in China is 30hrs. My Kunming layover is over-night. Will I be able to leave the airport with the 24-hour visa free transit if I do not use the transit in Shanghai?

You won't qualify for the 24 hour direct transit by traveling like that. You need to apply for a transit G type before the trip.
