About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hong Kong to Shanghai (three days) then on to Japan. Do I qualify?

As we will only be in Tokyo for a week, we won't have visas for Japan. Will US passport be sufficient to get 72 hour free transit?

No need to worry. You can still get the free transit in Shanghai.
