About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

hi everyone really struggling with this and cannot get a definate answer

travelling london to vietnam for 8 nights in august then travelling to shanghai for 3 nights then departing shanghai to london via vietnam
can i get the free visa
i had concerns as i transit bk to vietnam on way back to uk and not sure this is allowed
tried every contact number under the sun and just get automated answers

No, you are not eligible for free transit in Shanghai because London – Vietnam – Shanghai – Vietnam - London is not transit at all.

A tourist visa costs £151 for British citizens and is valid for two years. Changing your ticket usually costs a lot more.

even though im only in shanghai for 3 days and going back to london? is it because of the stop over in vietnam on way back
how much is visa and who can i sort this with
really hope i didnt have to pay with only being there 3 days
