Hong Kong to China without definite plans

I will be visiting my sister in Hong Kong and we may go to Mainland China while I'm visiting. Will I be able to get a visa if I don't have definite plans (such as a specific destination or travel dates)?

Deb, that's possible as long as you can provide an invitation letter from your sister, and then the accommodation arrangement and the return tickets are not required.
