Does entry into Taiwan count as an exit of China?

It’s very hard to find details online on this matter. I have a tourist L type, 90 days multiple entries for China. I hold a british passport. If I leave to Taiwan and come back to China does that count as an exit and reentry into China? Thus giving me another 90 days? Similar to Hong Kong? Also do I need any thing like visa or travel permit for entry into Taiwan on a British passport. Many thanks

Joseph, yes, it will be counted as an exit. It is similar to Hong Kong.
You can enjoy free entry to Taiwan for a stay of not exceeding 90 days.
