Is there a metro in Xiamen?

My friend was there recently for a few days and said there didn't seem to be one so she got the bus everywhere. I will be staying in Siming and want to visit the Botanical Gardens, Nanputuo Temple etc so I was wondering about this.

Yes, there is metro and only line 1 is now in operation. Its Zhongshan Park hotel is around 800yd away from Botanical Garden. And the closest station from Nanputuo Temple is Zhenhai Road which is abo9ut 2km away. For this site, it is best to go by bus.
