Do I have to leave Beijing

I am currently in a free transit visa in Beijing and I have a booked flight to Hong Kong and will then come back via Beijing. However I now don't need to go to Hong Kong. Do I have to actually go to Hong Kong or is the fact that I have a ticket enough for me to still leave Beijing back to London free transit?

You must leave and go to Hong Kong. If you don't you will face serious repercussions when you do attempt to leave Beijing.
