Flight with ground stop?

I've used the 72 hour visa before, but this time I am flying from Kathmandu to Chengdu (where I have a 24 hr stopover). However the flight has a ground stop in Lhasa. No plane change. I'm wondering if I can still take advantage of the 72 hour free transit in this case.

You cannot. Two stops immediately limits you to 24 hours direct transit.
