Do I need a visa if I'm going to Beijing for 3 nights through a Vacation Package?

I'm a US Citizen, and I'm looking to purchase a vacation package that includes China and Thailand.
According to the vacation package I would be staying in Beijing for 3 days and nights leaving China on the 4th day to go to Thailand. While in China I'll be participating in tours included in the vacation package.
