We are a family of 6. We want to go from xian to Zhangjiajie.

I saw that there is a direct train T284 that would take approximately 18 hrs, but is there another option. Could I connect somewhere else?

To save time, you may consider flying to Changsha for a transfer. The plane takes only two hours. After that, take Maglev to South Railway Station in 20min. Then walk to the nearby Lituo Bus Station to take a bus to Zhangjiajie and it takes about 4h. btw, the last bus leaves from Lituo at 17:40.
