I'm working in maldives need to visit china for a week on a friend's invitation

I have a resident card or work permit as I work in maldives but I hold an indian passport. I'm recently invited by an indian friend who is working in a university as a doctor professor. The visit shall be only for a week, can you please guide me with what are the "to do" if I accept the invitation?
