About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

can i stay 72 hours in Shanghai if I fly from Cambodia to Shanghai via Guangzhou

I will be flying from Siem Reap, Cambodia to Shanghai via Guangzhou on March 19th. I change planes in Guangzhou for my flight to Shanghai. On March 22nd I will fly from Shanghai to Los Angeles. I have a USA passport

Only a single stop in China is allowed for the 72 hour transit without visa.
