About:China Visa Exemption

us resident philippine passort transiting

im traveling from the philippines to new york with a 9h 40m stop in shanghai. i would like to make use of my time by doing some sightseeing. do i need a visa? if so, can i apply in the airport? or do i need to apply in the chinese embassy in new york beforehand? thanks so much!

Hope, you don’t need it as you are eligible for the 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai. You can apply for a temporary stay permit at the airport and then you can go to the city for a visit.
