About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flight from Sydney to Guangzhou to Seoul

Hello, I am Korean, I am going Sydney and then will be back from Sydney on Jan,1st 2018 and have to spend about 20hrs at Guangzhou.
I checked with China embassy in Korea but It is possible to have a transit entry permit for free within 24 hrs but it depends on the Chinese immigration customs so they can't assure... But the main problem is that they don't know about the rule of coming from Austrailia to China free transit. So, Is it too risky to not to have Visa? Or where can I find it for sure..? It seems little too late to make application Since I will leave on 24th. which I only have 1 week left.:( Is it possible to get an entry permit at the airport? or what other ways to have transit entry permit?
All I wanted to do is have some Dimsum in Guangzhou.....
Thank you in advance!!

Based on the latest info from November Guangzhou immigration has again started to allow people to leave the airport if their actual layover period is longer than 8 hours, so you don't need a visa as of now.

There´s no transit visa available at the airport.
You have to apply for a transit G type in advance at the embassy/consulate.

Hi, As long as you have your onward reservation, you should have no problem for the transit entry permit. Just follow everyone and if you are flying China Southern, follow everyone, you will get the transit entry permit easily and a room to rest your head. However, the room provided is not necessarily in the city. Having done that before, I would go straight to the city, pay for a room there if you want to, otherwise, enjoy and train back. Your transit bag if with China Southern will not be transferred to your hotel. Your cabin bag is the only baggage you will have. Don't take up the free room and then think you can get to the city centre, just get the direct train bus from the airport. Have fun and post back what you did!

@ Sun

You wanna use the 72h FREE transit.
A transit visa is something totally different and you have to apply for it in advance, not at the airport.
