Australia to Shanghai to HongKong

Hello,
I will be travelling to Shanghai from Australia, staying there for 5 days and then travelling to Hong Kong before returning to Australia, will this mean that i do not require a visa for the stay in Shanghai?

You don't require a visa if your flights are non-stop. But if your flight to Shanghai stops in Hong Kong or China then you need a visa.
