If I am holding a tkt fm MIL via ZRH to BJS & back can I obtain a 72 hrs transit visa?

If I am holding a tkt fm MIL via ZRH to BJS return with Swiss International Airlines (MIL-ZRH being the connecting/feeder flight while ZRH - BJS being the main flight) ... but both on the same tkt ... can I apply for a 72 hrs transit on the basis that I left ZRH to BJS (being the int'l leg/first country) & then return via ZRH in transit to MIL (Italy being the thrird country)?

You are flying Switzerland-China-Switzerland and therefore you're not in transit. So you don't qualify for free transit. Your choices are (a) get a visa in advance, (b) change your flight or (c) add in a side-trip (for example Beijing-Hong Kong-Beijing).
