About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Separate tickects - NYC- Shanghai, Shanghai to BKK, BKK to NYC

Hi,

We are an American and Argentine couple. We are planning on buying a multi stop ticket: NYC- Shanghai/ Shanghai-BKK, BKK-NYC. If we only stay in Shanghai for less than 72 hours, we do not need to get a tourist entry permit as long as we have our flights to Bangkok to show, correct?

Please let me know asap, I've been calling the NYC and DC offices all morning and no one is answering the phone!

Your itinerary is fine for 144 hours visa-free transit in Shanghai, as long as your flights are non-stop.

The flights would be three separate non stop tickets. NYC to shanghai, Shanghai-Bangkok, Bangkok- NYC

That's ok?
