Is it safe to have a Road trip in Taiwan during 9-14 May?

As I seen, the most rainy days is in May, I'm quite concern about having a road trip to Toroko in this month because I never drive a car which a driver is on the left side.

I need a suggestion which month is better to have a road trip or May is a fine month.
