About:China Visa Exemption

Can we apply for a transit visa going from LA-Shanghai (4days)-India (4 days)-Shanghai (Few Hrs)-LA

When we are in Shanghai can we make a detour with the 144 hr free transfer to Beijing for a day tour?

You don't need a transit visa to fly LA-Shanghai (144 hours)-India. But if you also want to go to Beijing then you need to have a visa in advance.
