About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US Citizens flying Tokyo-Beijing-Seattle with 12 hour layover in Beijing

Our flight from Tokyo arrives in Beijing at 04:00 and we do not depart until 15:00 onward to home in Seattle. Do we qualify for the 24-hour direct transit? If so, what is needed? We wish to either see the Great Wall or downtown Beijing.

Hi, you will qualify for the 24-hour direct transit in Beijing. You need to apply for a free temporary stay permit by using your passport and onward tickets at the immigration office when you arrive at the airport, then you can leave there to see the Great Wall.
