About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flying from JFK to Chiang Mai and have a 15 hour layover in Shanghai

Can I book a hotel and leave airport to sleep during that 15 hour layover time?

If you are flying USA-China-Thailand then you will qualify for 24 hours direct transit in China.
