About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Vientiane (LAOS) / Shanghai / Chiang Mai (THAILAND)

Hi, Thank you for your info, this is very useful. I would like to check whether my trip could be eligible to the 144h visa-free transit. I'm holding a Belgium passport and I would like to do : Vientiane (LAOS) > Shanghai > Chiang Mai (THAILAND). However, these country A and C are in different countries, but they share a border.
Thanks a lot!

If your itinerary:

Vientiane - Shanghai - Chiang Mai

Represents all the stops you plan to have during your journey, then you are definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in wider Shanghai area and you do not need any kind of visa. Also, it is fine to have separate tickets and to travel from/to country that shares the border with China. Again, be careful to check if you have some other stops within your itinerary.
