About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 Visa Free Travel - USA>Tokyo>Shanghai>Australia

We plan on travelling to Australia from the USA. We depart Seattle, USA and fly directly to Tokyo, Japan for a 3-day stop. We then depart Tokyo, Japan and fly to Shanghai, China for a 3 day stop. We then depart Shanghai, China and fly directly to Sydney, Australia.

Do we qualify for the 144 hour free program?

Yes,

So long as you have no stops in china between Japan and Shanghai, and no stops in china between Shanghai and Sydney, just head for the desk that says "transit visa" fill in the paperwork on the desk & proceed to the counter with your onward flight tickets.

It's really simple, then they'll give you a 144hour visa in your passport.

If you're staying with friends remember to register with the local PSB, any reputable hotel will do this for you at their "foreigner registration" computer.
