Can I apply for a student visa in China?

Hi, I need to reapply for a student X in China, I could not renew it because of my attendance last semester, I went to Hong Kong to apply, but my University wrote the wrong dates on the form, so they did not accept my application. I would like to know if it is possible to apply for a new entry permit in China, or if I have to apply in a different country? I would really like to save the money and not make a second trip to apply again, my visa is still good till November 15th is that possible ?
