7 hour layover in Shanghai

I'm citizen of Armenia and have US permanent resident (green) card. I'm traveling to Japan (have visa). On the way from Tokyo to USA, I have 7 hour layover in Shanghai. Do I need to get a transit G or can leave airport under 24 hour free transit to visit the city?
Thank you!
N

You don’t need a transit G type for that because you are eligible for the 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai. Just apply for a free temporary stay permit at the immigration office when you arrive at the airport, then you can leave there to explore the city. Nice trip!
