About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Traveling US-Japan-Shanghai-US

Hello,
I am a USA passport, I will be traveling from US to Japan to ShangHai (1 company plane ticket), ShangHai to US ( another company plane ticket).
Should I be fine?

You'll be fine if your outbound flight does not stop in Japan or another city in China.
