Do I get 24hrs free transit visa at Beijing?

I am holding an Indian passport, residing in France on a student entry permit. I am flying to Melbourne from Paris via Beijing. Technically two airlines. 1.Aerofloat= Paris - Moscow- Beijing, 2.China Southern= Beijing- Guangzhou-Melbourne. Beijing layover is nearly 12hrs. Just wondering if I could get 24hrs free transit to shoot off the airport to see the Great Wall or Should I have to apply transit G beforehand? Visaforchina.org (website) says Foreign nationals get 24hrs direct transit irrespective of any nationalities. Some guidance would be extremely helpful. Thanks.

Guangzhou does not allow multi-stop transit anymore. Hence, you should apply for a visa for that before your trip.

Based on recent information, Guangzhou immigration prohibits passengers transiting in Guangzhou to leave the sterile transit zone if their transit time is under 24 hours. Hence the multi-stop domestic transit is also banned. You can call the Guangzhou airport to confirm this if you doubt. TEL: 020-36066999
