About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Two transit points on return flight

My return flight from Thailand has me into Kunming at midnight and then an 8am departure to Shanghai with a 14 hour layover before the last leg to Vancouver. Can I qualify for the 72 hour free transit

You have two stops in China, so you cannot qualify for 72 hours visa-free transit. You are limited to a maximum of 24 hours from scheduled arrival time in Kunming to scheduled departure time from Shanghai. So you either need to change your flights or get a visa.
